Celebrating Apprenticeship Scheme SuccessMay 11, 2009 The leading North East supplier of electrical Transformers and Switchgear, Slaters Electricals is celebrating over 30 years of success through the SETA apprenticeship scheme. SETA is the largest Engineering Training Centre in Tyne and Wear, helping companies develop a highly skilled work force. Apprentices study a 4 year programme, the first year spent at SETA based in Washington, where they learn key skills including general engineering, electrical fitting, electronics and welding. Apprentices then complete 3 years of on the job learning, this bespoke training allows them to specialise in the electrical power distribution field, attending one study day at a local technical college and finally qualifying with both NVQ and HNC certificates. Slaters Electricals has found the SETA programme very successful, having developed some of their most valuable Engineers in this way. Over the years, all 25 of their apprentices have qualified with various levels of certification ranging from City and Guilds to HNC and in certain cases degree class qualifications. It doesn’t end there for apprentices at Slaters Electricals. Gary Atkinson has been with the company for 30 years progressing from an apprentice to his current position of MV Sales and Tendering Manager. Gary commented: “The SETA Apprenticeship Scheme has proven to be very fruitful. The majority of our team have progressed from working in the factory to become very competent and successful Engineers. Their skills and expertise allows Slaters Electricals to offer our customers industry leading advice and effective solutions, which perfectly meets their needs”. | news headlinesFebruary 04, 2010 New appointment at Slaters Electricals January 27, 2010 Optipro – The second wave of power quality management January 26, 2010 Middle East Electricity Exhibition, Dubai, 9 - 11 February 2010 July 22, 2009 Slaters raise a glass at the races May 11, 2009 Celebrating Apprenticeship Scheme Success May 05, 2009 New appointment at MEC Electrial Contractors Ltd April 09, 2009 Slaters Electricals power up for MEEE 2009 |
